What we do

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India (MBRDI) taps into India’s engineering and IT talent to develop innovative products both locally and globally. Here at MBRDI we focus on topics ranging from computer-aided design and simulations (CAD, CAE) for powertrain, chassis and exteriors to embedded systems, telematics and developing various IT applications and tools.

Product design and development

The teams are actively involved in design of various subsystems, viz. chassis, BiW (Body in White), powertrain, and exterior, interior and with full vehicle integration tasks. Partnering with teams across Mercedes-Benz Cars, Trucks, and Vans and Buses divisions, worldwide, across these topics, falls under the scope of MBRDI competence.

Electrical and electronics

The teams work extensively on E&E topics pertaining to powertrain (engine, transmission), chassis, interiors, mobility, advanced driver assistance, telematics, applications development etc.

Computer-aided engineering

The CAE department offers their expertise on topics related to crash, occupant safety, pedestrian protection, stiffness, strength, and durability. Armed with high computation power and expertise in India, the CAE team supports all Daimler business units, across its operations, globally.
